SEO Step 4: Select Web HostingFor most people, publishing a web site means selecting a web hosting company to host the site. There are many quality web hosting companies out there, and since I have not done any comprehensive comparison among different web hosting companies, I will not make any specific recommendations here. What I will do is to recommend you to keep in mind the following points if you are looking to put serious efforts into your SEO: 1. The web hosting you choose must allow you to select your subdomain names. Subdomain is the first component of your web site's top-level URL. For example, the top-level URL for this site is http://seo.1keydata.com. In this case, 'seo' is the subdomain. The ability to select subdomains will allow you to put your keyword in the URL, which is one of the strategies for optimizing your web site for search engines. 2. Reliability of the host. The last thing you want is for users to click on a click but unable to reach your site because your web site is unreachable to them due to some issues with the web hosting company. 3. The ability to offer raw logs. With the availability of Google Analytics, this requirement is not as important as it was before, as Google Analytics should provide sufficient traffic analysis for most webmasters. There will be times, though, you might want to make sure you have access to raw logs for additional analysis. |
